Values

Purpose

22nd Street Baptist Church exists to be a Biblically relevant church that seeks to connect people to God, through Christ, and to help nurture relationships with Him.

Core Values

  • Biblical Living: Following God’s plan for life.
  • Kingdom Building: Building God’s kingdom not ours.
  • Honesty not Hypocrisy: No religious masquerades.
  • Teamwork: All members are ministers.
  • Focus on the Family: Building God-centered homes.
  • Attitude of Excellence: Giving God our best.
  • “It’s not about me”: Putting others first.
  • “It’s not about now”: Following God’s timing.
  • Relationships: Discipleship, encouragement and accountability.
  • Cultural Relevance: Biblical ministry that is culturally effective.

Mindset

  • Pursuit: We will pursue people and not wait for them to come to us.
  • Value: People matter to God and must matter to us.
  • Relationships: We will spend time getting to know people and helping them through their life’s journey.
  • Need: Show Biblical solutions to peoples needs.
  • Adaptation: We will take Biblical principles and implement them in a culturally relevant way.
  • Clear Communication: We won’t use Christian lingo that confuses the un-churched.
  • Multiple Methods: We will use as many methods as possible to tell people about Christ.
  • Specific Intentional Prayer: Our prayer will be intentional and targeted.
  • Discipleship: After someone accepts Christ we will teach them step by step how to live a Biblical and fulfilling life.
  • Natural Prospects: We will reach coworkers, neighbors, friends and family.
  • No Strings: We will be an honest and giving church in the community, expecting nothing in return.
